You will need:

• Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran or alternative Aran weight yarn in colours of your choice.
• 4mm crochet hook
• Scissors

Free crochet star pattern

Step 1

Round 1: Chain (ch) 4, work 14 treble crochet (tr) stitches into first ch (furthest from the hook), slip stitch (ss) into top of original 4-ch. (15 sts)

Step 2

Round 2: Ch5, ss in second ch from hook, double crochet (dc) in next ch, half treble crochet (htr) in next ch, treble crochet (tr) in next ch, skip next 2 stitches (on round 1), ss into next tr.

Step 3

Repeat step 2 four times (5 points). Fasten off and weave in ends.

Cut three 10cm pieces of contrasting yarn, align and fold in half. Insert the loop end in between two star points and draw the other end through the loop to tie.

Step 4

Make a crochet Christmas garland from your stars

Using Aran yarn in a colour of your choice, ch20, ss into first ch (furthest from the hook) to create a loop for hanging.

Ch20, *ss into top of first star, ch15. Repeat from * seven times, until all stars are attached.

Ch40, ss into twentieth ch from hook for other loop.
